About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a fast‑growing finance team in Darlington. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support a variety of finance functions on a full‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

Maintain purchase and sales ledgers, processing supplier and sales invoices.
Handle expense claims and manage contracts using Sage.
Perform bank reconciliations and run payments.
Assist with credit control, chasing overdue debts by phone and email.
Support the preparation of financial statements and resolve queries.

Required profile

Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar role (not essential).
Studying towards, or holding, an accountancy qualification (desirable).
Strong organisational and communication skills with a proactive attitude.

Required skills

Experience with Sage or Xero accounting software.
Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.
