Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an organised Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in Dunmow. You will play a key part in processing daily financial transactions, supporting accounts payable and ensuring accurate record‑keeping.

Key responsibilities

• Record and categorise daily purchases and expenses in Accounts IQ.
• Assist with accounts payable, processing supplier invoices and employee expense claims.
• Reconcile credit transactions, expenses and supplier accounts to maintain balanced records.
• Prepare documentation for statutory tasks such as VAT returns, month‑end closures and annual audits.
• Serve as the first point of contact for routine finance queries from colleagues and suppliers.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
• Support the preparation of BACS payment runs and manage petty cash.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a finance team.
• Good communication skills for interacting with internal staff and external suppliers.
• Commitment to confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Accounts IQ accounting software.
