Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Assistant will support the Chief Financial Officer in managing the company’s finances, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions and compliance with statutory requirements. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Sutton and offers a £45,000 annual salary.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger maintenance.
• Support the Payroll Manager with weekly payroll processing and ensure timely HMRC submissions.
• Perform bank reconciliations, VAT returns, PAYE payments and NEST pension processing.
• Prepare monthly financial reconciliations and assist with cash‑flow, debt and debt‑collection management.
• Document accounting policies, maintain internal controls and help streamline accounting systems.
• Liaise with internal and external parties during audit processes.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach to finance tasks.
• Ability to work independently and support senior finance leadership.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple accounting functions.
