Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join our friendly finance team in Farnworth. This is a great opportunity for someone with transactional experience to develop technical accounting knowledge and take on increasing responsibility within a growing SME.

Key responsibilities

• Collate and process expenses
• Raise sales invoices
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, including bank and fixed‑asset accounts
• Analyse areas of the profit and loss account
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Take on increasing responsibility for management accounts as experience develops
• Assist with cash‑flow reporting
• Provide ad‑hoc finance support across the business
• Support the preparation of VAT returns
• Provide cover for the purchase ledger function
• Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system

Required profile

• 1‑2 years experience in Accounts Payable or Receivable
• Proactive approach with a genuine desire to progress in finance
• Interest in pursuing relevant professional qualifications
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
• Accuracy, ability to meet deadlines and clear written and verbal communication
• Reliable, proactive and team‑focused attitude

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables and VLOOKUP)
