Accounts Assistant – Practice (Taunton)

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our friendly practice in Taunton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing practice experience to develop their technical knowledge and progress within a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Prepare VAT returns and complete bookkeeping assignments
• Support the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
• Work with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
• Build positive client relationships and respond to day‑to‑day queries
• Collaborate closely with senior colleagues to deliver high‑standard client service

Required profile

• Experience working within an accountancy practice
• AAT qualification or studying towards a professional accounting qualification (or strong practical experience)
• Strong communication, attention to detail and a positive attitude
