Accounts Assistant – Retail Finance (Temporary)

About the role

The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team of a medium‑sized retail organisation in Maidstone. This temporary, full‑time position offers a hands‑on opportunity to develop practical accounting skills in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records and reports.
• Process invoices, receipts and payments accurately.
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Raise sales invoices and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Respond to internal queries regarding financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
• Provide general administrative support to the accounting team.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve financial processes and systems.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
• Good communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.
