Accounts Manager – Client Portfolio

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio within a forward‑thinking accountancy practice. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering accurate accounting services while building long‑term relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities for a varied client base.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Support payroll administration as needed.
• Monitor purchase and sales ledgers, responding to client queries.
• Assist with year‑end accounts preparation and provide audit support.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial information.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or finance environment.
• AAT qualification, ACCA/ACA studies, CIMA qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency with cloud‑based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar).
