Accounts Manager

About the role

As an Accounts Manager you will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering accounts and tax compliance services while identifying advisory opportunities. The role offers a clear path towards senior management within a leading accountancy practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across various industries.
• Review statutory accounts prepared by junior team members.
• Oversee preparation and review of corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Manage workflow, deadlines and client expectations.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted business adviser.
• Lead client meetings and present financial results and recommendations.
• Support clients with business planning, cash‑flow forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Identify opportunities for additional services and business development.
• Liaise with HMRC and other professional advisers on behalf of clients.
• Support partners with advisory and strategic projects.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and firm procedures.
• Assist with recruitment, training and retention of staff.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Significant experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio.
• Ability to review work and manage staff.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commercially minded with a proactive approach to client service.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
