Accounts Manager – Management Accounts & Outsourced Finance

About the role

This position sits within a growing, modern accountancy firm that serves a broad SME client base. You will work closely with the Director and Senior Managers to deliver high‑quality management accounts and outsourced finance services while beginning to take on client‑facing and supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director with a portfolio of SME clients and act as the day‑to‑day contact.
• Prepare and review management accounts for sole traders and small businesses.
• Oversee bookkeeping, outsourced finance work and VAT return preparation.
• Liaise with audit, tax and payroll teams across the firm.
• Review trainee work, provide feedback and support their development.
• Assist with reporting, analysis and early exposure to FP&A‑style tasks.
• Identify opportunities for client growth and business development.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Solid experience producing management accounts within an accountancy practice.
• Confident communicator with clients and ready to manage queries independently.
• Experience reviewing trainee work or a willingness to take on that responsibility.
• Strong technical foundation applied in a commercial context.
• Ability to manage deadlines, priorities and multiple client accounts.

Required skills

• Xero accounting software (essential).
