Accounts Payable Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to join a dynamic finance team in Manchester. You will support procurement and finance operations, ensuring supplier payments and account management run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and credit notes, matching and reconciling them accurately.
• Verify and process CIS invoices in line with HMRC regulations.
• Respond to internal and external queries on invoices, payments and procurement matters.
• Review accounts, reconcile balances and investigate overdue payments.
• Manage suspense accounts and resolve unallocated transactions.
• Maintain finance workflows, support users and suggest process improvements.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and assist with ad‑hoc finance administration and projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of proven experience in Accounts Payable, purchase ledger or related finance function.
• Desire to develop a career in accounts payable or purchase ledger.
• Experience processing invoices and reconciling accounts.
• Ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
