Accounts Payable Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Payable Assistant will ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments for a medium‑sized company in Dunstable. This permanent, full‑time role requires a detail‑oriented individual with a solid understanding of accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and enter data accurately into the accounting system.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Assist in preparing payment runs to ensure timely supplier payments.
• Maintain organised records of invoices, payments, and related correspondence.
• Respond to supplier queries and provide excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice‑related issues.
• Support month‑end closing activities, including accruals and reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounts payable function.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in accounting principles and processes.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude.
