Accounts Payable Manager

About the role

This is a hands‑on, hybrid position leading a small Accounts Payable team within a growing, well‑established business. You will combine leadership with operational responsibility to ensure invoices are processed accurately and suppliers are paid on time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a small Accounts Payable team.
• Manage day‑to‑day AP operations, maintaining service levels.
• Act as first point of escalation for supplier queries and payment issues.
• Review payment runs and approve invoices before final authorisation.
• Oversee month‑end activities, reconciliations and reporting.
• Administer company credit‑card accounts and related reconciliations.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct regular one‑to‑one meetings, performance reviews and team meetings.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Identify and implement process, control and system improvements.
• Support the wider finance team on ad‑hoc projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable, preferably in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Strong leadership and people‑development skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
