Accounts Semi‑Senior – Accounting Practice

About the role

We are a well‑established independent accountancy practice in Southend‑on‑Sea looking for an Accounts Semi‑Senior to join our growing team. The role offers a broad general practice experience, supporting a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, from sole traders to limited companies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end accounts for a varied client portfolio.
• Complete VAT returns and conduct bookkeeping reviews.
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Assist clients with digital accounting and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
• Handle routine client queries and obtain necessary records.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues and support less‑experienced team members.

Required profile

• 2–3 years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
• AAT qualified, part‑qualified or studying towards Level 4.
• Experience working with sole traders and limited companies.
• Professional and confident client communication style.

Required skills

• AAT qualification.
• Preparation of VAT returns.
• Corporation tax and personal tax return preparation.
• Bookkeeping and use of digital accounting software (MTD).
