Ada Software Engineer – Bristol

About the role

We are seeking an Ada Software Engineer for a long‑term contract in Bristol. The role involves developing safety‑critical software for defence‑related command and control systems, working within a regulated environment and a collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Ada‑based applications for real‑time and safety‑critical domains.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define architecture, integration points and testing strategies.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation and compliance activities in regulated sectors such as defence, aerospace or medical.
• Support deployment on Linux platforms and interface with real‑time operating systems or hypervisors.
• Continuously improve software quality and performance through innovative problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Strong background in software engineering, preferably in regulated safety‑critical projects.
• Experience with Ada is preferred; solid experience with C, C++ or Rust is also acceptable.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, communicating design decisions clearly.
• Passion for learning and mastering new programming languages and technologies.
