Adults Social Worker – Duty Team

About the role

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Adults Social Worker to join its Duty Team. You will provide rapid, outcome‑focused support to citizens eligible for social care, responding to urgent needs and complex cases.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely responses or referrals in line with policy, legislation and eligibility guidelines.
• Provide immediate support in crisis situations, assessing risk and safeguarding concerns.
• Collaborate with health, partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams to conduct assessments.
• Act as care coordinator for citizens with complex or high‑risk needs, developing person‑centred support plans.
• Ensure services are culturally sensitive, anti‑discriminatory and responsive to complaints.
• Identify and manage safeguarding, mental capacity and high‑risk scenarios, working with relevant agencies.
• Promote independence by helping citizens and carers assess risks, manage personal budgets and access community resources.
• Negotiate with local providers, oversee direct payments and ensure safe use of equipment and adaptations.

Required profile

• Qualified Adult Social Worker (Level 5 or equivalent) with appropriate registration.
• Experience in duty or on‑call social work, handling high‑risk and complex cases.
• Strong knowledge of UK social care legislation, safeguarding and mental capacity law.
• Ability to work under pressure, make rapid decisions and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
