Advanced Arthroplasty Practitioner – Lower Limb

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Arthroplasty Practitioner (Lower Limb) to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team at Royal Derby Hospital. In this autonomous, patient‑focused position you will act as a trusted point of contact for individuals with complex lower‑limb orthopaedic conditions, guiding them from assessment through surgery and follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex lower‑limb orthopaedic conditions in outpatient clinics.
• Plan and coordinate treatment pathways, prepare patients for surgery and, where appropriate, list them for procedures.
• Request, interpret and act on investigations such as imaging and blood tests.
• Collaborate closely with orthopaedic consultants, multidisciplinary teams and community services to deliver holistic care.
• Provide specialist advice to colleagues, contribute to service development, audit, research and innovation.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options and follow‑up plans with empathy and clarity.

Required profile

• Qualified clinician with substantial experience in lower‑limb orthopaedics.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously at an advanced clinical level.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient‑centred approach.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and role‑modeling for the team.
