Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Out of Hours (Trainee & Qualified)

About the role

The Hospital is recruiting both qualified and trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) to work out‑of‑hours across medical, surgical, oncological, haematological and palliative care in‑patient areas. The role combines triage, clinical review and shift leadership within a multidisciplinary team on a rotating 2‑shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical review and triage for undifferentiated patients across multiple specialties.
• Lead out‑of‑hours shifts on a rotational basis, allocating workload via the Nervecentre task management system.
• Collaborate with the Critical Care Outreach Team and respond to “Martha’s rule” concern calls.
• Maintain a clinical practice portfolio and complete required Level 7 academic elements.
• Allocate weekly non‑clinical hours to quality improvement projects and research.

Required profile

• Qualified ACPs must have completed a Level 7 academic pathway and hold an 8A AFC grade.
• Trainee ACPs start at band 7 AFC with progression to band 8A upon successful completion of academic and portfolio requirements.
• Ability to work autonomously while escalating care when needed.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.
