Agency Social Worker – Learning Disability/Autism (Sandwell)

About the role

We are seeking an agency social worker to join Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council Adult Social Care’s Learning Disability/Autism team on a 37‑hour week. The role involves supporting vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex physical needs.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake safeguarding investigations and mental capacity assessments.
• Make best‑interest decisions and conduct outcome‑focused assessments.
• Develop and review support plans to meet care and support needs.
• Collaborate with carers, partner agencies and the wider community to achieve positive outcomes.

Required profile

• Recognised professional social work qualification (MA/BA/B.Sc. in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW).
• Registration with Social Work England.
• Minimum two years post‑qualifying experience in a permanent role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of learning disabilities, autism and complex physical needs.
• Experience with safeguarding, mental capacity and best‑interest decision making.
• Ability to work with diverse individuals and multi‑agency teams.
