AI Backend Engineer (EMEA)

About the role

We are seeking an AI‑focused Backend Engineer to join our cloud‑based property and content management platform. You will work on a fast‑moving product suite that includes 11 integrations and a new Booking & Request Management Platform with real‑time data and predictive intelligence. The role is open to candidates across EMEA and emphasizes AI‑augmented development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI‑first development by using Claude Code and agentic tooling to scaffold and iterate on features.
• Build and maintain agent instruction files, custom slash‑commands, sub‑agents, and MCP server integrations.
• Define AI‑generated code workflows, including review standards, testing expectations, security checks, and guardrails.
• Ship production‑ready backend features and services while leveraging AI to accelerate development.
• Set and enforce code quality standards for both human‑written and AI‑generated code.
• Mentor and upskill teammates through pairing, internal documentation, and lunch‑and‑learn sessions.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to align technical solutions with business goals.

Required profile

• Strong engineering judgement with fluency in AI tooling such as Claude Code, agentic coding tools, and MCP servers.
• Experience configuring AI agents, writing CLAUDE.md / AGENTS.md files, and managing context exposure.
• Ability to rigorously review AI‑generated code and identify failure modes.
• Data‑driven mindset: can measure impact on cycle time, defect rate, and review burden.
• Willingness to share knowledge and elevate the whole engineering team.
