Air Export Operator (Temporary – Potential Permanent)

About the role

Our client, a busy freight forwarding business in Newcastle, is seeking an experienced Air Export Operator. The position is full‑time and temporary, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. You will manage air export shipments from booking through to departure while delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage air export shipments from initial booking to departure.
• Prepare and process all required export documentation accurately.
• Liaise with customers, airlines, overseas agents and transport providers.
• Arrange bookings, coordinate collections and monitor shipment progress.
• Assist with export customs procedures and ensure compliance.
• Provide regular shipment updates to customers and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Complete customer billing and maintain accurate shipment records.
• Ensure all operational files meet company procedures and KPIs.

Required profile

• Previous experience in air export freight forwarding (essential).
• Good understanding of air export procedures and documentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the capacity to handle multiple shipments.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CDS customs entry system (advantageous).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
