Air Import Clerk

About the role

We are seeking an Air Import Clerk to join a medium‑sized freight forwarder in Ashford. Working Monday to Friday, you will manage air shipments from initial booking through to delivery, ensuring compliance with UK import and export regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients, customs authorities and agents to facilitate the swift movement of cargo.
• Prepare and verify all documentation required for air import, export and customs clearance.
• Maintain accurate billing and cost information for invoicing and job costing.
• Communicate with company branches and external partners to guarantee high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Identify the most cost‑effective shipping methods while meeting customer requirements.
• Apply knowledge of AOG (Aircraft on Ground) and other time‑critical services to prioritize urgent shipments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in air import and/or export, with specific AOG handling preferred.
• Understanding of UK import/export regulations and customs procedures.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a time‑critical environment.

Required skills

• Good IT proficiency for handling shipment management systems.
