Air Import Operator

About the role

Our client, a leading freight forwarder, is seeking an experienced Air Import Operator to join their Feltham office. You will manage end‑to‑end import processes, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and profitability of each job.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the full import cycle from quotation to delivery.
• Prepare and verify all paperwork required for customs clearance, including CITEs, live animals and TIB entries.
• Liaise with overseas offices, partners and agents to coordinate shipments.
• Check import quotas, tariffs, trade agreements and HMRC regulations.
• Cost jobs accurately and drive maximum profitability.
• Maintain relationships with HM Customs to facilitate smooth transfers.
• Manage deadlines, negotiate when needed, and resolve difficult situations.
• Work independently and collaboratively within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Import Department of a freight forwarding company.
• Strong knowledge of customs clearance regimes and European origin rules.
• Confident client‑facing attitude.
