Air Import Operator

About the role

The Air Import Operator will support a well‑established freight forwarding business in Staines, handling general freight, customs entries and dangerous goods shipments. The role requires a detail‑oriented professional who can ensure compliance and efficiency throughout the import process.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end air import shipments for general freight customers.
• Prepare and process customs import entries accurately.
• Handle dangerous goods shipments in line with IATA regulations.
• Liaise with airlines, handling agents, customers, overseas offices and transport providers.
• Prepare and verify import documentation, including MAWB/HAWB, customs paperwork and arrival documents.
• Monitor shipments from arrival through customs clearance to final delivery.
• Provide customers with regular shipment updates and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure files are costed, invoiced and completed within agreed timelines while maintaining compliance with HMRC and company procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in air import freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of customs import entry procedures.
• Familiarity with dangerous goods handling (desirable but not essential).
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with freight forwarding software systems.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
