Air Import Operator

About the role

The Air Import Operator will oversee the complete import journey for air freight, handling everything from the initial pre‑alert to final delivery and invoicing. You will act as the central point of contact for overseas agents, airlines and customers, ensuring smooth and compliant movement of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Manage air import shipments from origin to final delivery.
• Receive, review and verify pre‑alerts and supporting documentation.
• Create and maintain shipment files in the operating system.
• Monitor shipment progress, coordinate with agents, airlines, handling agents and transport providers.
• Prepare and submit customs declarations using the CDS system.
• Liaise with HM Revenue & Customs and Border Force to resolve queries.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, CDS requirements and internal policies.
• Arrange cargo collections from airline handling facilities and verify supplier invoices.

Required profile

• Previous experience in air‑freight import operations.
• Strong understanding of end‑to‑end air import procedures and customs clearance.
• Familiarity with HMRC customs regulations and the CDS entry system.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple shipments simultaneously.

Required skills

• CDS (Customs Declaration Service) proficiency.
• MS Office competency.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent contract, Monday‑Friday 9:00‑17:30.
• Competitive salary between £30,000 and £35,000 per year, dependent on experience.
