Air Systems Engineer – Mid/Senior

About the role

ZeroAvia is looking for an Air Systems Engineer to lead the design and development of air delivery systems for its hydrogen fuel‑cell powertrains. The role combines concept generation, certification‑ready design, testing and supplier integration, and requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full development of fuel‑cell cathode air delivery systems, from architecture and requirements capture to equipment design and testing.
• Lead aerothermal concept generation and produce system architecture, requirements and design substantiation documents.
• Analyse air delivery components to define functional and performance requirements.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders and suppliers on equipment such as electric compressors, filters, valves, heat exchangers, fluid conveyance and instrumentation.
• Develop and execute component‑level testing strategies, including design, installation and commissioning of test rigs.
• Present and participate in internal and external design and project reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Self‑starter, diligent, results‑focused and flexible.
• Experience in aerospace and familiarity with CAA, EASA or FAA certification processes is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Air system architecture and turbomachinery.
• Thermo‑fluid analysis and first‑principles simulation (1D & 3D).
• Empirical testing and performance validation.
• CAD modelling and PLM data management.
• Design of electric compressors, filters, valves, heat exchangers, fluid conveyance and instrumentation.
