Algo Trading Software Engineer (AVP)

About the role

Citi’s Equities Technology organization is looking for a hands‑on senior software engineer to design and deliver its next‑generation algorithmic trading and Smart Order Routing platform. The role sits within the Equities Electronic Execution team and offers the chance to influence global finance through innovative technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Citi’s next‑generation algorithmic trading and Smart Order Routing platform.
• Collaborate with traders, quantitative researchers and product teams to translate business needs into technical features.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring performance and latency targets are met.
• Maintain high standards of code quality and follow SDLC best practices.
• Improve and maintain automation testing frameworks, development tools and environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in algorithmic trading, smart order routing, market making or quantitative trading.
• Strong understanding of market microstructure and regional regulatory regimes.
• Ability to work closely with trading desks, product development and quantitative research teams.
• Hands‑on design and implementation skills with a focus on performance and latency.
