Alternative Provision Lead

About the role

We are seeking an outstanding practitioner with a passion for inclusion to lead our Alternative Provision. The role will develop and manage a high‑quality provision for vulnerable young people, helping them overcome barriers and reintegrate into mainstream education.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically develop and oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the alternative provision.
• Support students with SEND, SEMH needs and attendance challenges.
• Design bespoke programmes to improve engagement, attendance and academic outcomes.
• Lead reintegration pathways for students returning to mainstream settings.
• Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour support and safeguarding.
• Use data to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
• Line‑manage, coach and develop staff within the provision.
• Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies and support services.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Proven experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management and pastoral leadership abilities.
• Experience adapting curriculum for vulnerable learners.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and improving life chances.
• Experience in alternative provision or reintegration programmes is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
