Alternative Provision Teacher – Classroom & Outdoor Instructor

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and inspiring teacher to deliver a blended curriculum of classroom learning and outdoor education for secondary‑aged pupils in the Barnoldswick (Barlick) area. The role combines structured teaching with hands‑on projects such as bushcraft, sports and team‑building, supporting vulnerable young people to develop resilience and life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver core academic lessons in a classroom setting.
• Design and lead outdoor activities, including bushcraft, sports and team‑building exercises across the Pendle area.
• Provide holistic mentoring and act as a positive role model for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Manage behaviour calmly, de‑escalating challenging situations.
• Adapt curriculum materials to suit individual learning levels and interests.

Required profile

• Qualified (QTS/QTLS) or unqualified candidates willing to undergo full training.
• Strong life experience; background in the Armed Forces or military is highly valued.
• Passion for outdoor activities and nature.
• Ability to work with small groups of vulnerable secondary‑aged students.
