Alternative Provision Teacher – Key Stage 3 (SEMH)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate teacher to lead a Key Stage 3 class within an alternative provision setting in Walsall. You will work with a small group of students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours, helping them rebuild confidence and re‑engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculum.
• Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships to encourage student engagement and progress.
• Manage behaviour using consistent, positive strategies.
• Collaborate closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, and senior leaders.
• Support students’ emotional wellbeing and personal development.
• Assess, monitor, and record student progress.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Experience or strong interest in teaching students with SEMH needs.
• Ability to teach across the curriculum and differentiate lessons for varied abilities.
• Excellent classroom management and compassionate approach.
