Analytical Development Chemist – Temporary

About the role

We are seeking an Analytical Development Chemist to join a successful manufacturing business in Liverpool. The role supports quality assurance, product testing and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products.
• Support development, validation and improvement of analytical and quality control methods.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Record, analyse and report test results accurately.
• Assist with quality investigations and resolve customer queries.
• Manage laboratory consumables, chemicals and retained samples while ensuring compliance with COSHH, health & safety and food safety standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment carrying out analytical testing.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy manufacturing setting.
• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Passion for quality, compliance and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science or related discipline (desirable).
• Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or another regulated industry (desirable).
• Knowledge of analytical instrumentation, calibration and validation processes (desirable).
• Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (desirable).
