Analytics Engineer – Data & Snowflake Specialist

About the role

Hays Technology is partnering with a Birmingham‑based university to recruit an experienced Analytics Engineer. The role will drive the next phase of a maturing data project, ensuring that Dynamics data is captured, modelled and delivered in Snowflake to meet business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the enquirer and applicant journeys and translate them into data requirements.
• Collect and validate business requirements for recruitment, admissions and insight functions.
• Design, enhance, test and maintain data‑flows that support these functions.
• Collaborate with Admission, Student Recruitment, IT Services and the Dynamics product team.
• Lead the development of Snowflake data models, ensuring compliance with institutional data governance.
• Contribute to data lake and data‑warehouse construction, taking ownership where appropriate.
• Prepare datasets for inclusion in Power BI reports.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of database systems, data warehouses, ETL processes, APIs and data analytics.
• Ability to work around legacy system limitations and adapt to changing technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to bridge technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience with MS Dynamics or a comparable CRM system.
• Experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data platform.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Familiarity with dbt (or similar) and Git.
• Proven experience leading technical colleagues.

• Salary up to £46,000 per annum.
