Android Engineer

About the role

Starling, the UK’s leading digital bank, is seeking an Android Engineer to join its mobile engineering team. You will work in a cross‑functional feature team, building and maintaining the Android banking app that millions of customers rely on daily.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship high‑quality Android features in a fast‑moving fintech environment.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Own the technical decisions for the Android platform and contribute to architectural discussions.
• Maintain and improve the tooling used by engineers on a daily basis.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of development processes.

Required profile

• Self‑driven individual who takes full ownership of their work.
• Strong interest in fintech and delivering customer‑focused digital experiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, attending the office at least one day per week.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java for Android development.
• Experience building native Android applications.
