Animal Management Lecturer

About the role

New College Swindon is seeking a passionate Animal Management Lecturer to join its Lifestyle faculty. You will deliver Level 1‑3 programmes, helping students acquire the practical and scientific skills needed for careers in animal care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, high‑quality teaching across Level 1‑3 Animal Management courses.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning activities that motivate students.
• Take on course leadership duties and act as a personal tutor.
• Develop innovative teaching resources reflecting current industry practice.
• Support practical learning in laboratories and animal management environments.
• Build relationships with local and national employers to enhance student employability.
• Organise educational visits, enrichment activities and employer engagement.
• Monitor learner progress and intervene promptly to support achievement.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.

Required profile

• A Level 3 qualification in Animal Management or a related subject.
• A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or commitment to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
• Industry knowledge and experience in the animal management sector.
• Experience of teaching, training or mentoring.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
