Application Developer – Delphi & .NET Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Application Developer to join a client’s development team in Essex. The role focuses on maintaining and enhancing large‑scale Delphi‑based enterprise applications that serve global customers. You will work in a hybrid setting, spending two days a week on‑site, and collaborate closely with both technical specialists and business users.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, support and extend existing Delphi applications.
• Diagnose and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reliable enhancements.
• Develop secure, scalable solutions using .NET C# where appropriate.
• Participate in code refactoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow structured SDLC processes and contribute to documentation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of commercial experience with Delphi (XE2, XE10 and later).
• 10+ years of hands‑on experience with MS SQL Server and Transact‑SQL.
• 3+ years of experience developing in .NET C#.
• Proven ability to analyse, refactor and improve existing codebases.
• Experience working within formal SDLC environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
