Application Operations Engineer – 12‑month contract

About the role

We are looking for an Application Operations Engineer to join the OPV Vortex Support Team in Exeter on a 12‑month contract. You will be responsible for the operation, configuration and maintenance of the Vortex forecasting platform and its data products, ensuring reliable service for operational meteorologists.

Key responsibilities

• Configure Vortex data products using template logic (Handlebars.js / Mustache.js) and layout language (Typst).
• Onboard new data products in collaboration with Product and Service Delivery Managers and perform post‑onboarding re‑configurations.
• Monitor application performance, manage batch processes and handle user/security administration.
• Log, triage and resolve incidents, changes and problems through ServiceNow.
• Support testing, verification and provide feedback on Vortex functionality.
• Participate in continual service improvement and capacity management activities.

Required profile

• Experience in operating and supporting enterprise applications or service suites.
• Understanding of configuration, change, incident and problem management processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate with end users.
• Proactive attitude with ownership of unresolved issues until resolution.
