Applications Engineer – Compact Workover Rigs

About the role
The Applications Engineer will act as the technical focal point for the development and deployment of Compact Workover Rig (CWR) solutions. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role supports the Engineering Director and collaborates with cross‑functional project teams to deliver rig‑based solutions for plug‑and‑abandonment (P&A) and well‑intervention operations on the UKCS and internationally.
Key responsibilities
- Integrate the CWR solution into project scopes while meeting operational, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Lead design and operational integration phases, creating and refining equipment system designs.
- Coordinate with external partners and internal teams to align manufacturing details with project needs.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including ATEX and Machinery Directive compliance files.
- Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SIT (Site Integration Test) activities and troubleshoot design issues.
- Develop interface drawings (stack‑up, PFD, P&ID, platform modelling) and review installation requirements such as lift plans and hazardous area locations.
- Identify design improvements, cost efficiencies and innovations to reduce emissions and optimise rig‑up/rig‑down time.
- Assist HAZID and Safety Case tasks, generating reviews and reports.
Required profile
- Proven experience in rig‑based engineering or oil‑field equipment design.
- Strong understanding of safety, regulatory and environmental standards for offshore operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
