Applications Specialist

About the role

The British Transport Police Technology Department is seeking an Applications Specialist to provide 2nd and 3rd line support for critical business applications. You will help keep essential systems running smoothly while contributing to upgrades, decommissioning projects and new technology roll‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 2nd and 3rd line technical support and routine maintenance for assigned production applications.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve application incidents and service requests, monitoring performance and availability.
• Support application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, decommissioning and implementation of new solutions.
• Collaborate with solution architects, database administrators, cyber‑security specialists and third‑party suppliers to ensure effective application delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an analytical applications role within a 24x7 environment.
• Familiarity with application management tools and techniques across multiple technical teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.
• ITIL Foundation accreditation (or higher) and HND‑level education or equivalent experience.
