Applied AI Engineer (Remote, Europe)

About the role

We are seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join a well‑funded stealth AI startup building a next‑generation AI assistant. The position is fully remote within Europe and offers the chance to shape product and technical direction from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship AI features from concept through production.
• Build and optimise agent workflows, prompts, memory handling and tool integration.
• Develop reliable, low‑latency AI systems that solve real user problems.
• Improve production performance, reliability and latency of AI services.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure real‑world model quality.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into working software.
• Contribute to technical direction as the product evolves.

Required profile

• Commercial experience delivering production AI/ML applications.
• Strong Python engineering background.
• Hands‑on experience with modern large language models and agentic AI systems.
• Experience with retrieval‑augmented generation, vector databases and LLM orchestration.
• Proven ability to deploy and operate production‑grade ML systems.
• Comfort working across models, infrastructure and product in fast‑moving early‑stage environments.
