Apprentice Automotive Technician – Carlisle

About the role

Join Halfords Autocentre in Carlisle as an apprentice automotive technician. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands‑on experience across a wide range of vehicle makes and models while studying part‑time at college.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in routine servicing, inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
• Support the diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Replace components, perform engine rebuilds and carry out bodywork where required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Learn commercial aspects of the Autocentre, including parts ordering and customer interaction.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about vehicles and eager to develop technical expertise.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to attend one day per week of college‑based training.
