Apprentice Operative – Cement Plant (Dunbar)

About the role

Join Tarmac's cement plant in Dunbar as an Apprentice Operative and start a career building the UK's essential infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced operatives, learning how to produce high‑quality cement while following strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support a safe working environment and uphold safety procedures.
• Learn to operate and monitor crushers, mills, kilns and conveyors.
• Assist with process control to maintain product quality and efficiency.
• Support automated bagging lines, palletising and quality checks in the packing plant.
• Help load bulk cement onto railcars and coordinate with logistics.
• Participate in quarry operations, including material extraction, crushing and haulage.
• Carry out routine inspections, basic maintenance tasks and general housekeeping.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team communication.

Required profile

• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in dusty or confined environments.
• Commitment to follow health and safety guidelines.
• Enthusiasm for learning technical processes and completing a Level 2 apprenticeship.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
