Apprentice - Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

About the role

This two‑year apprenticeship offers practical training and study to achieve a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification, including Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English where needed. Working under registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, you will rotate through all hospital pharmacy areas to develop a comprehensive skill set.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain stock control, assist with ordering and conduct environmental monitoring.
• Support safe disposal of medicines and ensure compliance with SOPs, Good Distribution Practice and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Dispense prescriptions accurately and use pharmacy IT systems for medicines management on wards.
• Participate in medicines receipt, storage, distribution and dispensing activities across the hospital.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and follow professional standards set by the GPhC.
• Ability to work under supervision and demonstrate a professional attitude.
• Commitment to completing the apprenticeship and achieving registration with the GPhC.

Required skills

• Use of pharmacy information technology systems.
• Stock control and inventory management.
• Basic medicines management and dispensing procedures.
