Apprentice SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

We are seeking an Apprentice SEND Teaching Assistant to support secondary‑school pupils (KS3‑KS4) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The role is based in Bushey and combines on‑the‑job training with a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other learning difficulties.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy and subject‑specific interventions.
• Implement support strategies from EHCPs and behaviour plans.
• Help maintain emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
• Support teachers with lesson preparation, resources and targeted revision sessions.

Required profile

• Motivation to work with young people with additional needs.
• GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4+ preferred).
• Commitment to an 11‑month apprenticeship.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check (support provided).
• Suitable attitude – no prior school experience required.
