Architect / Assistant Architect – Truro, Cornwall

About the role

KAST Architects is seeking a Part II Architectural Assistant or a recently qualified Part‑III Architect (up to 3‑4 years experience) to join its Truro studio. You will work on a varied portfolio of private houses, cultural buildings and community projects across the South West, covering all RIBA work stages.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design concepts and detailed technical solutions for one‑off residential and public projects.
• Run projects on‑site, coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Produce high‑quality presentations and visualisations.
• Apply low‑environmental‑impact principles, including Passivhaus and low‑energy design.
• Prepare construction documentation using Vectorworks, BIM, SketchUp and related tools.

Required profile

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating excellent detail and technical knowledge.
• Proven job‑running experience with on‑site exposure.
• Excellent written and spoken English and ability to communicate with stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to sustainable architecture and a passion for learning.
• Right to work in the UK, full UK/EU driving licence, and a love for dogs.
