Architect – SEND Projects (Secondment to Hampshire County Council)

About the role

Mace is seeking an Architect to join a seconded placement within Hampshire County Council’s in‑house design team. The role focuses on delivering a growing portfolio of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) projects across mainstream schools, with an expected programme running to September 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of multiple HCC SEND projects, including internal alterations, refurbishments and external play areas.
• Manage defined packages or small projects and develop compliant design information.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, contribute to meetings, workshops and risk reporting.
• Assist procurement, tender coordination and ensure safe, sustainable, high‑quality outcomes.
• Provide technical support during construction, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and documentation.
• Champion compliance with building regulations, CDM 2015 and live‑school delivery requirements.

Required profile

• Part 3 qualified architect (ARB or CIAT registered).
• Comfortable working in an embedded/seconded capacity within a client team.
• Strong drawing and technical skills, able to produce planning and tender documentation.
• Organised with a developing understanding of relevant building legislation and statutory requirements.

Required skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit desirable).
• Ability to coordinate multi‑disciplinary inputs.
