Art and Design Technology Technician – Greenwich

About the role

We are looking for an Art and Design Technology Technician to join our department in Greenwich. The role starts in September and provides essential technical support to teaching staff and students, ensuring smooth delivery of practical art and design lessons.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organise materials, equipment and resources for practical lessons in art, design and technology.
• Maintain and arrange tools, machinery and workspaces, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Assist teaching staff during lessons by setting up equipment and demonstrating techniques when required.
• Support students in the safe and effective use of equipment and materials.
• Manage stock levels, order supplies and keep accurate records of usage.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and safe storage of hazardous materials.
• Assist with departmental events, exhibitions and display preparation.

Required profile

• Relevant technical qualification in art, design, technology or a related discipline (minimum Level 3).
• Certification in health and safety or willingness to undertake training.
• Proven experience as a technician in an educational setting or similar environment.
• Familiarity with a broad range of art and design technology materials and equipment.
• Experience of stock management and resource ordering.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices within workshop or studio environments.
