ASD Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for KS1 Pupils

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic ASD Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with autism spectrum disorder. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the pupil accesses the curriculum and participates fully in classroom activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised support strategies that promote communication, independence and social development.
• Monitor the pupil’s progress and adapt interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to integrate support within the wider classroom environment.
• Maintain a calm, engaging and inclusive learning atmosphere.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD in a primary‑school setting.
• Patience, adaptability and a genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their potential.
• Ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
