About the role
Join a South West London secondary school as an Aspiring English Teacher on a salaried Schools Direct route. This full‑time, term‑time position lets you earn while you gain classroom experience and work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.
Key responsibilities
- Teach English across Key Stage 3 and 4, delivering lessons that raise attainment.
- Support GCSE and A‑Level interventions and monitor student progress.
- Participate in a dedicated training day each week.
- Gradually increase teaching load from ~15 to ~20 periods per week.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with an English‑related degree (e.g., English, English Literature, Linguistics, TESOL, Education).
- Passion for teaching and developing young learners.
- Willingness to work in one school for the duration of the programme.
Required skills
What we offer
- Permanent contract on the Unqualified Teacher (UQT) pay scale (UQ1).
- Salary ranging from £24,066 to £36,718 per year, dependent on experience.
- One training day per week and the option to gain QTS with a PGCE.
