About the role
This full‑time Pastoral and Learning Support Assistant position is based in an Alternative Provision College in Crawley. It is designed for graduates who want to develop expertise in gang prevention, youth work and supporting vulnerable students with SEN and SEMH needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day pastoral support to students with special educational needs and social‑emotional challenges.
- Identify and assess risks, escalating concerns to senior staff when necessary.
- Work alongside teachers and specialist staff to promote engagement, attainment and positive life outcomes.
- Deliver consistent, compassionate guidance that helps students feel safe, empowered and motivated.
- Participate in on‑site training, CPD and safeguarding procedures.
Required profile
- Passionate about helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Resilient under stress, calm in conflict situations.
- High empathy, caring attitude and strong listening ability.
- Ability to commute to Crawley and start in September.
