Aspiring Gang Prevention Youth Worker – Pastoral Support Assistant

About the role
This full‑time position supports vulnerable and at‑risk young people in an alternative provision college in Lancing. As an Aspiring Gang Prevention Youth Worker you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to deliver pastoral care, improve engagement and help students overcome social, emotional and mental health challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and group pastoral support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Identify and assess risks, escalating concerns to senior staff when required.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop personalised support plans.
- Facilitate activities that build confidence, resilience and life‑skills.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
Required profile
- Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in stressful or conflict situations.
- High levels of empathy, compassion and active listening.
- Reliable transport to commute to Lancing and availability for a September start.
