Aspiring Psychologist – SEN Teaching Assistant (Islington)

About the role

We are looking for an aspiring psychologist to join a specialist special school in Islington as a SEN Teaching Assistant. The role provides hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD and SEMH, while you develop skills relevant to future psychology, therapy or mental-health training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs.
• Assist small groups with learning activities and engagement.
• Support teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour.
• Monitor and record pupil progress.
• Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or recent graduate aspiring to a career in psychology, educational psychology or mental-health support.
• Passionate about child development and supporting pupils with SEN.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient.
• Experience in a school, care, support or youth setting (desirable).
• Willingness to commit to a full-time role in Islington.
